What is Pathways?

"Pathways, a Health Crisis Resource Center" is a nationally-recognized distinctive non-profit organization, located in the Uptown Area of South Minneapolis, offering services to persons with life threatening illness since April 1989.

National speakers who have visited us have commented that they know of no comparable organization throughout the United States. Approximately 650 people make more than 10,000 visits per year to transform themselves physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually. Participants report an improved outlook on life, increased energy, better control of symptoms, less pain, enhanced communication skills, and deepening of spiritual beliefs. Some have even said: "Pathways has saved my life." Others have claimed that Pathways is the most important part of their healing and that they have out-lived their prognosis by months or even years.

Pathways provides programs that are designed to support a creative healing response to life-threatening illness.

The programs provide emotional support, meditation, imagery and positive attitudes which can contribute to the healing process. Persons in a health crisis, families, friends and caregivers are encouraged to explore new possibilities and discover that joy and dignity are always at hand.

Pathways affirms that healing can occur at psychological, emotional and spiritual levels. Pathways welcomes all who are interested in their self healing.

Drop-in hours are 9am - 7pm, Monday through Thursday; 9am - 5pm Friday; and 10am - 4pm Saturday. One way to be introduced to our services is to drop-in and tour the facility, use the meditation or art room, check out the library or talk to a volunteer. A small number of the classes are also available on a drop-in basis.

Who is Pathways?

Pathways is a volunteer-supported health crisis resource center which offers basic services free of charge by over 100 providers. The center began its history in 1989 as a response to the need in Minneapolis for integrative and complementary health care. Since 1989, Director, Howard Bell, has been the only full-time paid employee at Pathways. The remaining support staff is comprised of part-time employees, contractors, and volunteers.
